CHiP Semiconductor Office and Warehouse

CHiP Semiconductor’s new facility brings a very sought after, high-tech industrial employer to the Buda, Texas area. The new 40,000-SF facility, comprised of office and warehouse space, was delivered under the design-build model with Sabre Commercial. The project presented a unique challenge to maximize the warehouse storage while accommodating the owner's desire for minimal columns. The clear space was preferred to maximize the flexibility for the rack layout.

Highlight

The project was carefully planned to maximize the high pile storage in the rack system. Fuse worked with the rack provider to layout the spaces and design the building to fit for efficiency. Due to the owner’s purchase of a narrow forklift, Fuse was able to minimize the rack spacing and add more storage in the warehouse space.

Design & Construction Facts

The scope included the site planning, design, and construction administration for the new facility. The building design considered the height/thickness of the tilt-up concrete panels, depth of the roof structure, and spacing of the rack system for efficiencies in each system. Ultimately, the design-build team successfully coordinated with the structural engineer, the general contractor, and the rack designer to ensure the design offered the most efficient solution.
